Charge

The role of the committee is to help ensure the safety of the college’s students, faculty, staff, administrators, and visitors to the campus and to recommend actions to address concerns raised by the college community. This Committee meets on a monthly basis to assist the College in promoting a safe and healthy workplace free of physical and environmental hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Review incidents and post investigations, inspection of facilities, and the correction of unsafe conditions, if requested.
  • Address campus safety concerns to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and provide hazard assessments and training on safe work practices.
  • Discuss and evaluate trend data on employee and student injuries and illnesses to make recommendations on preventative measures.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on District Emergency Plans, Preparedness and Safety Programs (IIPP, Workplace Violence Prevention Plan, etc).
  • Discuss and evaluate health & safety work orders and safety suggestion box submissions.
  • Promote a safe and healthy campus environment for all students, staff, faculty, administrators and visitors to the campus.

Meetings

  • The Committee shall meet monthly
  • A quorum of 6 active members shall be required for a meeting
  • As a courtesy, members are requested to advise if they are unable to attend a scheduled meeting.
  • Suspension of rules, votes or revisions require a 2/3 vote of members present.
